Doctor Who — 30 Years in the Tardis (8-8.50pm BBC1). Do you remember where you were on 23 November 1963? Probably watching the news about President Kennedy. The BBC's most famous cult series started quietly, with William Hartnell as the Doctor; but the storyline, luckily, had allowed for his multiple reincarnation, so he could plausibly wear the features of Jon Pertwee, Patrick Troughton, Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy — and take on a new assistant for each series. Only that ridiculous phone box was doomed to obsolescence.
