Doctor zapped by Beeb (1985)

[edit]

DR WHO encountered his harshest adversary yesterday.

He was sent reeling by a blow from the Incredible Axeman, alias BBC1 controller Michael Grade.

He has decreed that the doctor's adventures must end next month ... and will not resume again until 1986.

The move was made for economic reasons by controller Grade, who has already despatched beauty contests, Superstars and The Hot Shoe Show.

"It's like being poleaxed," said actor Colin Baker, who has played the doctor for just a year.

BAKER: Stunned
