BBC SET FOR WAR OF TWO WORLDS

THE BBC brought out an amazing secret weapon against Coronation Street yesterday — Dr Who.

BBC chief Michael Grade intends to pit the Time Lord — helped by some of the corporation's biggest stars — against Bet Lynch and the Rover's Return regulars in September.

And it is clear that with the luxury of Britain's top show already. EastEnders, the BBC have decided to go for a clean sweep of TV programming.

The new-look Dr Who will feature stars including Kate O'Mara, Richard Briers, Ken Dodd and even ITV's own detective Bullman, actor Don Henderson.

Grade, announcing a £60 million package for the BBC's autumn viewing. sold yesterday, 'Dr Who has been through a rough time recently. When we showed it on its traditional slot of Saturday it only got three and a half million viewers.
