Janet's come a long way (1986)

.. And what goes on behind the screen

AUSSIE actress Janet Fielding came to it Britain ten years ago for a couple of months ... and stayed.

She became known to millions of viewers as Dr Who's assistant Tegan, an air stewardess from Down Under.

The attractive, dark-haired actress from Brisbane takes a contrasting role tonight far from the world of the Timelord, Tardis and the Daleks.

In Hold The Front Page! the drama series about a newspaper's sports department, she plays Deborah Simons, daughter of the paper's owner, Mr Savva.

Ace sportswriter Ken Wordsworth is told to interview her about a junk games event called The Savva Games ... and he is furious.

It's his second such assignment in the same day. He has also been sent to Henley Regatta to interview a young rower determined to exploit the commercial potential of being a sports star.

The tie-up between sport and big financial dealings makes Ken's tolerance begin to crack.

David Warner stars as Ken with Eric Allan and Richard Ireson as two of his colleagues.
