NEW Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi has unveiled his costume and looks more like Doctor Cool.
The show's stylists have shunned gimmicks such as bow ties, multicoloured scarves or celery sticks on lapels.
Instead they are harking back to the early days of William Hartnell and Jon Pertwee to come up with a stylish new look.
Capaldi, 55, who has taken over from Matt Smith, 31, will wear a dark blue coat with striking red lining made by fashion designers Crombie.
The high-end clothing company's roots in Scotland in 1805 could be a nod to the actor being Scottish too.
Capaldi will also wear dark blue trousers, a white shirt and black Dr Martens shoes.
The look was created by costume designer Howard Burden.
Last night, Capaldi said: "He's woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100% Rebel Time Lord."
Show boss Steven Moffat, 52, said: "New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over — Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!"
Filming is now under way for the new series, which starts in autumn.
