[edit]

The 50th anniversary of Doctor Who will be marked by a set of stamps next year. The Royal Mail has said that 11 stamps will be issued on March 26 featuring the actors who have played the Time Lord, ranging from the first Doctor, William Hartnell, to the present one, Matt Smith. David Tennant, Christopher Eccleston, Paul McGann, Sylvester McCoy, Colin Baker, Peter Davison, Tom Baker, Jon Pertwee and Patrick Troughton will also feature on the 1st-class stamps. A five-stamp sheet will be available, showing the Tardis and some of the Doctor's foes. Andrew Hammond, of the Royal Mail, said: "These stamps pay tribute to the brilliant actors that have played the Doctor over the years."
