Matfen Hall Fete


THE TRANQULITY of Matfen Hall will give way to bustling joyous activity on Saturday when its acres of breathtaking [?] are given over to its annual garden fete.

The hall, which has been a Cheshire Home for the Disabled since l967, manages to pull new attractions out of the hat each year for its 12.000 or so visitors, and is again making a bid to raise more than £10,000 for the upkeep of the home and the welfare of its 34 residents.

Colin Baker, the popular Dr Who figure of television fame, who is currently appearing at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle, will be making a personal appearance at about noon. The 70-odd stalls, roundabouts. coconut shies, bouncy castle and pony rides will he open for business from 11 a.m.
