[edit]

For 22 years, to the delight of millions of viewers the world over, Dr Who has with wholesome aplomb survived the worst that time and space could hurl at him.

Now—supposedly for reasons of financial economy—he is to be vaporised off our screens for more than a year.

Even the BBC could not of its own volition do so dastardly and unpopular a deed. No, there has to be another explanation. To his family and friends BBC 1 Controller Michael Grade may show his usual chubby humanoid features. But any day now the rubbery mask will melt and the voice become metallic with menace.

The Controller is himself controlled by them.

—EXTERMINATE--

Michael Grade... He is an enemy of the Daleks.
