Producer Verity Lambert of Cinema Verite, STARLOG's Jean Airey reports, has "absolutely nothing to do with Doctor Who," according to the somewhat frosty tones of Lambert's assistant. She went on to add that that has been the case for something well over a year and they are quite frustrated with rumors continuing to circulate about Cinema Verite's possible involvement with the revival of the in-hiatus Doctor Who.

For the last two years. speculation about the continued production of the long-running Who has been that the BBC would "farm it out" to an independent production company. Probably because she previously produced the show years ago, Lambert's firm was the one most prominently mentioned as the contractee.

Current speculation had contracts being signed for continued production of the program and everyone from Sylvester McCoy to The New Avengers' Gareth Hunt cast as the Doctor. None of these rumors appear true.

John Nathan-Turner, the other major veteran Who producer reported to be bidding for the show, says that, unless guaranteed strong support from the BBC— including an appropriate time slot, he wouldn't be interested in a new Who. Nathan-Turner just produced a pilot SF "magazine" for Britain's satellite broadcast network and has other projects under development.

Recent letters from the BBC to fans inquiring about Doctor Who continue to make the same frothy statements about continuation as two years ago. Airey reports. It certainly doesn't look promising for any future Doctor Who.
