DICK EMERY may be paving the way for a new kind of pantomime dame in "Puss in Boots" at Wolverhampton Grand. His only concessions to tradition are a multitude of bloomers and garish costume changes. Otherwise he has made good his promise of being "a manly dame "
To achieve this without a hint of transvestism is due to his sophisticated wit and sense of innocence, immediately attractive to adults and endearing to children — a virile, quick-witted Dame that be- 4 longs to family audiences and hot to seaside postcards.
Ted Rogers is no simple Simon. With the energy of a circus clown, the presence of mind of a top-rate I compere, the ebullience of a born showman, he creates a party atmosphere.
The Dallas Boys give the show a sound musical foundation and are I pleasingly integrated into the action 'is mill hands.
Jean Barrington, former D'Oyly Carte principal soprano, makes a vigorous, clear-voiced principal boy and Jasmine Dee is a delectable, feline Puss.
