THE YEAR is 1963 and Dr Who and his Tardis have just touched down in a school playground somewhere in London.
Or to be more precise in Macbeth Street, Hammersmith, where the BBC are filming the first episode of the new Dr Who drama series.
The much-loved sci-fi programme is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a clash between the doctor and his old enemies, the Daleks.
A film crew took over an empty Hammersmith school to shoot the start of the series, bringing their Daleks, Tardis and monster ship with them.
The new drama, due to be screened in the Autumn, stars Sylvester McCoy as Dr Who, Sophie Aldred as his new assistant and dashing Simon Williams as Group Captain Gilmour.
And pedalling back to centre stage is the longest serving Dalek of them all, John Scott Martin, who played the evil role opposite the first Doctor Who.
