THE BBC's seventh Dr Who and his side-kick Ace are facing extermination.
Actor Sylvester McCoy, 46, and co-star Sophie Aldred. 27. have had their contract options to star in the next series withdrawn. The Timelord fought off his old adversaries — the Daleks and Cybermen — but was beaten by Coronation Street.
He only managed a poor showing of about five million viewers last time. Now the BBC is considering bids from independent TV companies to make the 27th series — minus the present stars. A BBC insider said last night: 'The odds are firmly against Sylvester and Sophie.
'If the programme is eventually made by an independent they will want their own stars.'
Cyberman creator Gerry Davis and Terry Nation, who devised the Daleks, are said to be favourites to make the next series.
