Christmas Day is a day to be avoided for the Doctor and the festive special finds him on a remote human colony hiding from carol singers until a crashed spaceship calls upon him for help.
He finds himself reunited with River Song - played by Alex Kingston, teaming up with Peter Capaldi's 12th doctor for the first time - and is hurled into a frantic chase across the galaxy.
Writer, showrunner and Sunday Mail Great Scot winner Steven Moffat has promised something light but emotional. And he's as good as his word as the episode also features Greg Davies as King Hydroflax, Matt Lucas as Will Nardole, a giant out of control robot bodyguard, and a starliner full of galactic super-villains.
