A NEW DR WHO role is announced today for Lalla Ward, daughter of Lord Bangor.

Pictured with K9 today, Lalla, who plays Princess Astra in the BBC TV series, is to become the doctor's regular assistant when his adventures return to the screen in September.

Lalla, 27, who played Louis Trotter's daughter Lottie in the Duchess of Duke Street, said: "Somehow—it hasn't been exactly decided how yet—I become a Time Lord, and I will probably become Romana, Dr Who's assistant, played by Mary Tamm" (left).
