[edit]

Dr WHO will fall in love and the Americans ate to blame.

It all happens in a new TV movie, a joint effort between the BBC and Universal Studios, now at the planning stage and very hush hush.

But with US cash backing the project and the BBC no longer in total control the movie (hopefully the start of a new series) will have a definite American spin.

In the US scheme of things super-heroes like Batman and Supermen usually have a love interest and an "American" Dr Who won't be the exception.

So be the new TV movie Dr Who falls in a big way for the charms of a fellow female time traveller.

Yes, it's a far cry from the old school of Troughton, Baker and Harnell where the woman was just the Time Lord's assistant and love strings were never plucked.

The action is even set in the USA - San Francisco — but the Americans assure Who fans there's still a TARDIS and that famous police phone box.

So far there's not a whisper about the lucky guy tipped for the Dr Who role.

However the last (and certainly not the best) Dr Who, Sylvester McCoy, has been offered a guest slot.

He pops us as the Time Lord but he's soon zapped by the villain of the piece, an entity called The Master, and regelierates into his eight incarnation.
