Jenna confirmed that she has left the TARDIS but admitted that it will always be close to her - because she stole a key from set

Jenna Coleman has spoken about her exit from Doctor Who.

The actress - who recently quit her role as the Time Lord's sidekick Clara Oswald after three years told Nick Grimshaw on Radio One: "I have left the TARDIS, I have, it's happened. I've filmed my last scenes. It was emotional. It's been in the works for a very long time.

"Steven [Moffat] and I sat down a year ago and tried to work out the best way to do it. It will happen at some point this season. Hopefully people will love it."

Jenna also revealed that she will miss the show, but not that much because she's stolen a key to the TARDIS so she's in a state of denial about leaving.

"Yeah, there's not a lot of job where you have a space ship, an alien as your best mate and get to run away from monsters. It's so much fun, I love it. It's such a unique beast. It's been really special."

She added: "I think I'm in denial. I really don't feel like I've left because I see Peter all the time, and I still see Matt all the time so I feel I have a key to the TARDIS.

"Which I might do have because I stole it.

"I just love Peter so much and all the crew, it's so tight knit. I shed a tear."

It was recently revealed that Clara will be KILLED OFF during the new series when she meets her fate towards the end of the run in an episode called Face The Raven.

The upsetting storyline is the first time an assistant has been killed off from the BBC sci-fi show since 1982.

Back then, Peter Davison 's Doctor's companion Adric died when a spaceship crashed into the Earth, saving the planet from Cybermen but finishing off the dinosaurs.

Clara's sad demise, to be screened in November, happens when she travels with the Doctor and their friend Rigsy to a secret alien world hidden within the streets of London.

Show boss Steven Moffat has teased: "Not all of them will get out alive. One of the three intruders must face the raven."

An insider revealed: "It's the first time since the show came back that a companion has been killed off. It's going to be a horrible shock for everyone, as Clara is loved by the fans."

The loss of loyal Clara will leave the Doctor reeling.

The following episode is the show's first ever one-hander, featuring Peter Capaldi alone, as his character mourns.

Moffat has described the solo instalment as a "big first" for the show, adding: "We're pushing the boundaries once again with the most experimental episode Doctor Who has ever made."

Jenna, 29, has quit the show after landing the lead in ITV's major eight-part drama Victoria, which starts filming next month.

The actress had originally intended to quit the Tardis at the end of series eight, but later changed her mind and stayed for another year.
