DR WHO mania is at its height in Brighton this weekend as up to 1,000 fanatics indulge their passion for the classic TV series.
The Hotel Metropole is filled with Dr Who paraphernalia, including of course, a full-scale Dalek.
The Dr Who Appreciation Society convention is in Brighton for the first time ever — and three of the real doctors, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Peter Davidson are making an appearance.
One group of enthusiasts, pictured above, pull out all the stops for every convention. They call themselves Metamorphic Creations and make all their own Dr Who costumes.
Only one of them, Terry Hobden, 33, from Stonery Road, Portslade, second From left, is old enough to have seen the very first programmes in 1963 and he assumes the role of the original doctor, played by the late William Hartnell.
Other members of the group are Derek Handley, 18, from Essex (Omega), Andrew Starks, 16, from Surrey (Tom Baker), Patricia Merrick, 19, from Bath (Peri), and Paul Lunn, 20, from London (Colin Baker).
In the telephone box is American Charles Kupperman, 16, as the fifth doctor Peter Davidson).
