[edit]

Jon Pertwee stars in the latest Doctor Who DVD Spearhead from Space from BBC Worldwide [U]. When meteorites start to plummet to Earth and the ex-employee of a local factory claims to have seen a walking mannequin the Doctor and his companion, Liz, became embroiled in a plot to colonise the planet. But the Doctor is not alone in his quest to save the Earth. The Brigadier and his crack group of Unit Troops are on hand as the Doctor and Liz attempt to thwart the evil machinations of a mysterious alien presence. Spearhead from Space contains a number of extra features exclusive to DVD. The additional material includes original UNIT recruitment film; audio commentary by Nicholas Courtney [the Brigadier] and Caroline John [Liz]; a location guide and subtitles with scene-by-scene information. As popular as he was 30 years ago, Doctor Who was recently voted third in the British film institute's poll of all-time best British television programmes. This is the third Doctor Who to be released on BBC Worldwide, following on from the hugely successful The Five Doctors and The Robots of Death.
