The Daleks

It has been a dozen years since the time-traveling "Tardis" of Doctor Who ...

The arrives on Skaro during the final stage of a war between the Thais and a race called the Kaleds, Davros, a Kaled scientist aware that his race is mutating as a result of the nuclear weapons used in the war, is building Daleks to prolong the Kaled species.

Already, Davros has mutated into a half-Kaled, half-Dalek creature.

Dr. Who fails to persuade Davros to stop incubating mutant creatures and transforming them into Daleks. A revolt by Davros' scientists allows the Daleks to turn on their creator and destroy him.

Finally, Dr. Who manages to blow up the Dalek bunker, thereby sealing them in for centuries.

When Genesis of the Daleks was shown it sparked a storm of protest. Viewers complained that the Daleks' origins an fate were different to those recounted in The Deadly Planet a dozen years before. Eventually Terry Nation was obliged to write to the newspapers defending his revised Dalek ancestry. After all, he pleaded, history is always being re-written, isn't it?!
