SINGER and actress Bonnie Langford takes over as Dr Who's 26th assistant on Saturday — with the distinction of being the only one of his companions so far who can scream In the key of F.

And there Mel be a lot of screaming to do when she joins TV's Doctor — alias actor Colin Baker — who is now on trial before the Time Lords. Bonnie admitted yesterday that there are two main acting requirements for any of the time-traveller's female sidekicks.

First she must be able to run down a corridor screaming convincingly. Then she must ask with conviction: What do we do next, Doctor?

Bonnie, who plays Peri's successor Melanie, said: I can now do both quite well. The former child Aar has certainly get the right experience for the role.

As Violet Elizabeth Bott in TV's Just William, she was the lisping girl who threatened to thcweam and thcweaem and thcweam until I'm thick!
