Does former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies know who the next Doctor is, as he recently claimed? Top BBC sources assure me that he doesn't and he was "just winding us all up". But an announcement is imminent, and new showrunner Chris Chibnall has also been talking excitedly about his "bold" and "risky" plans for the show, suggesting that nothing is ruled out, not even a single-storyline series of the kind he did with Broadchurch. He also disclosed that he took some persuading to take up what fans would probably regard as the greatest job in the galaxy. "I resisted it for a very long time — the BBC really had to woo me," he says.
