TIME traveller Dr Who is about to undergo another transformation — from TV to the big screen.

Canadian star Donald Sutherland, 53, will take the title role and discard the Doctor's squeaky-clean image by sleeping with his beautiful assistant.

For the £20 million film, Dr Who will become a rugged, hard-drinking superhero. He will appear with former Bond girl Caroline Munro in steamy scenes guaranteed to surprise fans.

Their purely professional relationship from the long-running TV series will be a thing of the past as the pair find they cannot keep their hands off each other.

Details of the film, due to go into production later this year, are shrouded in secrecy.

But an insider has revealed that the Doctor will be a government trouble-shooter, ordered to track down a notorious villain who is determined to destroy the universe.

"This movie will be very like Star Wars, promising a whole host of spectacular space battles along the way. it's a far cry from the TV series which is now considered tame," he said.
