[edit]

THE BBC is considering plans for a Disney-style theme park featuring its most famous programmes.

The project is reported to involve the Pearson Group which runs Alton Towers, Chessington World of Adventure, and Madame Tussaud's, and would cost an estimated £100million.

A BBC spokeswoman said: "We are looking at the feasibility of a theme park and it may or may not come to fruition. It's very early days."

She could not confirm the cost figure, or a suggestion that the park was Woburn Abbey in Bedfordshire.

The park is set to feature replica sets, stunt men and special effects.

Possible attractions are said to include a battle between Daleks and Cybermen from Dr Who, a reproduction of EastEnders' Albert Square with a Queen Vic pub serving drinks, and sets from Only Fools and Hones.

The BBC we also reported to be considering moving chunks of children's TV production to the park, so visitors could watch programme like Grange Hill being shot.
