BB EXHIBITION STAND ATTRACTS THOUSANDS
RIGHT up to date in 4 youngsters "with it" way were the members of the 1st Friern Barnet, 1st Barnet, 73rd and 174th London Companies who operated two original "Daleks" at the Boys' and Girls' Exhibition in London.
The Daily Mail had sent a last minute request to the BB and the Army Cadets to supply operators for these Dr. Who favourites.
During the exhibition the BB Boys gradually took over the duties of the Army Cadets who were rather rebellious in their operating.
Thousands of Boys and girls queued to get a peep at the Daleks. The London District Field Officer enticed one of the machines to take a wander down to the BB stand (front cover picture). The machine couldn't refuse — if it had, there would have been a withdrawal of operators!
At the BB stand there was a competition in the form of a jig-saw puzzle. A continuous stream of Boys (and girls) tried their hand at completing the puzzle in a record time.
Thousands of copies of Stedfast Mag. and Life Boy Link were distributed and many potential recruits left their names and addresses.
