[edit]

The Doctor and her pals battle a new foe in a hospital

Suzanne Packer made her name as Casualty's senior ward sister Tess Bateman in the popular BBC1 medical drama. Now the actress is back - but at a very different hospital as she pops up as a guest star in Doctor Who this week.

Packer plays General Eve Cicero, a former heroic space fighter pilot, who we meet at a futuristic hospital with her brother Durkos (comedian Ben Bailey Smith) and robot savant Ronan.

The Doctor and her companions Graham Yasmin and Ryan are incapacitated and recovering at the same hospital after being caught up in a 'sonic mine' explosion on a planet that's piled high with junk. Two hospital medics Amos and Mabli (Bret Goldstein and Lois Chimimba are treating them.

FEROCIOUS CREATURE

'This year we tried to make each episode as visually distinctive as possible,' says showrunner Chris Chibnall about the stunning new set. 'We've given the directors and their directors of photography the scope to create their own worlds and visual styles.

Each one connects into the series, but every episode has its own distinct style and visual identity.'
