Is it the end for Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor in the action-packed finale?

LAST ONE SCI-FI Doctor Who Saturday, 6.50pm, BBC1

The battle is on to save the world in this week's Doctor Who finale in the wake of the Rani's audacious plot to completely rewrite reality.

Her scheme to free Omega, one of the original Time Lords, from his current state of non-existence has caused Earth to start disintegrating - and with millions of human lives at stake, the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) is determined to stop the Rani (Archie Panjabi), with the help of companions Belinda (Varada Sethu) and Ruby (Millie Gibson).

'It's probably going to be the most dangerous battle the Doctor has ever faced, Gibson, 20, tells TV&Satellite Week. 'This one is pretty epic. There's heartbreak and loss, but also a lot of surprises!

The fight is personal for Ruby, as the Rani's new reality is ruled by Conrad Clark (Jonah Hauer-King), Ruby's conspiracy-theorist-ex and she's determined to take him down.

CONFLICT

'Ruby showed Conrad mercy, and now he's ended up ruining the whole world, says Gibson. 'What she's feeling right now is anger and betrayal all over again, but we may see a different side to that!

While the outcome of the Doctor's battle to save Earth remains to be seen, Gibson is keeping mum on the rumours that this could be the final fight for Gatwa's incarnation of the Doctor, with a new actor potentially poised to take over the role... 'You know we never give anything away, she smiles. 'We don't want to spoil anything!'

Meanwhile, ex-Doctor Who stars David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker and Billie Piper celebrate 20 years since the show was revived in Doctor Who: Unleashed (Saturday, 8pm, BBC3), with contributions from the current cast and showrunner Russell T. Davies.
