[edit]

ACTRESS Dinah Sheridan moves far away from her homely image when he appears as a high-powered politician in DOCTOR WHO (BBC1, 6.15 p.m.).

For Dinah, now 63, is well known on TV as a mum.

She plays actor Nigel Havers mother in the comedy Don't Wait Up.

And she will also play the mother of two sons in a new ITV series, Winning Streak.

"At my age I am surprised I don't play just grandmas." she says.

Off-screen, Dinah is a grandma, but even her grandchildren call her by the family nickname — "Mousse."

Mousse is French for froth and I'm called it because champagne is my favourite drink," she says.
