WHEN Dr. Who's Tardis landed in America, he wasn't the only one wearing strange clothes.

Jon Pertwee found that his fans in the United States also wear his Doctor's costume—frilly shirt and cloak.

Jon, whose Dr. Who series is now being shown in America says : "I spent 10 days in San Jose talking to enthusiasts.

"There were some rather strange-looking sights — small round men with cloaks drooping on the ground.

"But at least they don't wear shorts with the frilly shirts!"

Today Jon appears with Peter Davison, Patrick Troughton and Richard Hurndall in an episode of THE FIVE DOCTORS (BBC1. 6.15).

The trip to the States made a welcome break for Jon, Who has been writing his autobiography Moon Boots and Diner Suits ready for publication on October 23.

The literary life hasn't stopped Jon making his personal appearances at the Liverpool International Garden Festival as Wurzel Gummidge.

He says : "I have had such a tremendous reception from fans all ages that I am even more determined to get the series back on to television.

"I have already approached some potential backers and feel more confident about its return than ever before."

Spelling correction: Worzel Gummidge
