DRAMA 7.30PM, BBC4
In December 1963, the Daleks were unleashed onto small screens and became one of the Doctor's most formidable foes, when the First Doctor (William Hartnell) and his three companions (Carole Ann Ford, Jacqueline Hill and William Russell) landed the TARDIS in a petrified forest on an alien planet. Tonight, seven early episodes have had a cinematic makeover, woven into a 60th anniversary special, complete with a new soundtrack and score by Mark Ayres. The dramatisation of Doctor Who's early days as a TV series, An Adventure in Space and Time, follows (8.45pm), and, earlier, there's a special Bargain Hunt (12.15pm, BBC1). ★★★★
