SCI-FI fans and nostalgia buffs are set for a double delight when s major two-day national convention is held in Birmingham.
Organisers says several stars from hit Tv series of the sixties and seventies will attend the British Telefantasy Convention at the city's Grand Hotel on June 16-17.
Actors and producers will attend video screenings and question-and-answer sessions during the convention.
Profits from the event, which has been organised by a group of West Midlands Sci-fi fans, will all go to children's charities.
Interest
The event is open to members of the public and will be of particular interest to adults who watched many of the shows more than 25 years ago.
Guests including John Leeson, (Dr Who). Trevor Preston and Pamela Lonsdale, (Ace of Wands), Gareth Hunt, (The New Avengers) and Ed Bishop (UFO), have indicated they will attend.
Several "lost" episodes of shows like Dr Who - discarded by the BBC in 1978 and recovered thanks to the efforts of fans who have visited TV stations worldwide In & bid to track down missing reels - will be screened.
There will be a display of Gerry Anderson models and puppets and and exhibition of artwork by Dr Who artist Peter Wallbank.
A spokesman for the organisers says it is hoped several hundred people will attend over the two days.
Many fans were stopping overnight in Birmingham just for the occasion after travel. ling from many parts of the country, he said.
