[edit]

Dr. Who fans of Central Indiana, of which there seem to be legion. may rejoice. Channel 20 plans to pick up the perennially popular British series at 10 p.m.. April 28. WFYI, moreover, is not going to be niggardly in responding to the fans of the good doctor. The public television station is going to "strip" the series across the board, airing it at 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The station will begin with the Peter Davison set of shows — there have been multiple actors playing Dr. Who — then follow with the most current of the crop. Colin Baker, and then go back to the Tom Baker characterization which was carried on Channel 59 not too long ago.

For anyone who is so deprived as to not be familiar with the good doctor, Davison is also familiar to television fans for his portrayal of Tristan, the young and happy-go-lucky veterinary surgeon in All Creatures Great and Small.

Previously WFYI spokesmen had said the station would carry the program if there was an indication of support. To prove the point, 204 Dr. Who fans contributed $7,271 to the station's December membership drive.
