[edit]

TOM BAKER bowed out of his role as TV's Dr Who last night in a puff of BBC wizardry.

Millions watched as Baker, 46, spoke his last line: "It's the end ... but the moment is prepared for." Then Baker slowly disappeared and was transformed into Peter Davison, 29, who will become the fifth and youngest Doctor in the new series starting in the summer.

Producer John Nathan-Turner said last night "Dr. Who didn't die, he simply regenerated himself."
