Prime Computer of Australia Ltd was able already to recognise results from its "Dr Who" television and cinema advertising campaign, launched in January.
The campaign using 60sec and 30sec commercials, is the first to use television to promote computers in Australia.
British actors Tom Baker and Lalla Ward appeared in the commercials, which had generated exceptional interest, according to Mr Lionel Singer, managing director of Prime Computer.
The brief for the $200,000 campaign was to achieve a high awareness for the Prime name and position it alongside IBM and Honeywell.
"We were able to pinpoint one sale directly as a result of the first airing of the commercial", Mr Singer said. "Although it's early days to gauge at this stage, the campaign appears to have succeeded in the original aims".
