[edit]

THE popular BBC science fiction series Dr Who came down to earth when a travelling exhibition left Liverpool for New York, in the 36,000-tonnes roll-on roll-off container ship Atlantic Compass.

The Dr. Who exhibition, constructed at the BBC Elstree Studios. is mounted on a purpose-built 48-feet-long road trailer and is to tour 180 North American towns and cities promoting the series.

When in position the trailer, with its brightly-painted body, opens out to form a walk-round exhibition with the Tardis flanking the entrance.

Actor Peter Davison, who played Dr. Who in a recent series, will be on the quayside to welcome the exhibition to North America.

Richard Orman, managing director of Cunard-Brocklebank Ltd. Liverpool. UK agents for Atlantic Container Line. said it was gratifying that when Dr. Who, the inveterate time traveller, needed to take his show across the Atlantic, he dialled the Atantic Compass, a ship designed for service into the 21st century and sailing from Liverpool.

Alison floors a space baddie

GIVING a helping hand to a Time Lord comes easy when you are just seven years old.

And Alison, who travelled by Tardis from Holborn Hill, Ormankirk, for a shopping trip in Liverpoool with her mum, took time off to save the city from an outerspace enemy.

Her death-defying test was witnessed on Saturday by other sci-fi friends who were helping to raise money for charity.
