The opening of a pop-up shop caused an early morning sensation in Newtown as Whovians descended for a first glimpse of what is on offer.

BBC World Wide's senior licensing executive Rachael Hammond said a dedicated group of Whovians braved the cold to line up for the opening last Thursday.

"We had people who were waiting from 7am this morning in full costume," she said. "They know all the shows, all the characters, all the props."

The shop is celebrating the 50th year of and will be in Newtown for six weeks.

"We wanted to do something for fans because they're a passionate bunch," she said.

The store is full of paraphernalia, including a sonic screwdriver, universal remote control, replica props, dressing gowns, homewares and posters.
