[edit]

AS THE storm surrounding BBC reporter Andrew Gilligan continues, Beeb controller Lorraine Heggessey also stands accused of fact fudging.

Heggessey disappointed Dr Who fans desperate to see the cult series repeated when she said at the Edinburgh TV Festival: "I would like to resurrect Dr Who but the rights situation is too complicated at the moment."

The Dr Who Fan Club pooh-poohed her, saying: "We looked into the rights and there is nothing to prevent the show's return. The only issue is that various writers hold the rights to various characters they created, such as Terry Nation and the Daleks."

And where was this questioning of Heggessey's version of events? On the Beeb's official website.
