A DOCTOR Who fan has taken out a £1,800 bank loan - so he can buy a Dalek.
Mike Owen (pictured) has collected dozens of items connected with the popular BBC1 science fiction series, but always dreamed of owning a full-sized Dalek.
'When I went into the bank and asked for a loan to buy a Dalek the young guy didn't know what it was,' said Mr Owen, 50, of East, Preston, near Worthing, West Sussex. 'An older chap had to come over and explain it to him.'
Bachelor Mr Owen keeps the Dalek in his bedroom, but has had to move into a spare room because it takes up so much space.
'When I first got it I played with it all the time,' he said. 'It's got flashing lights and all the parts move. I am delighted with it.'
