MY inamorata Charlotte and I have become instant admirers of Paul McGann's Doctor Who, which we watched on my mahogany television set last night. Sadly, the part - he is the eighth time-traveller - has brought him into close contact with Dr Who fanatics. Take the other day. There was McGann minding his own business, when up popped a fan. "So tell me, Doctor," he intoned, "what exactly was running through your mind during your fourth incarnation when you stepped out of the Tardis onto the Planet Skyros?" With that, no fool he, McGann dashed for his time machine.
