Doctor Who
Christmas Day, 5.30pm, BBC1
We've known Peter Capaldi is on his way out of Doctor Who for some time now. The twelfth Doctor was last seen hanging on to life and refusing to regenerate, only to step outside the Tardis and bump into the first Doctor. Which is where this Christmas special, Twice Upon A Time, picks up. The episode sees the return of Pearl Mackie as Bill, plus an appearance from Sherlock's Mark Gatiss as a First World War soldier. They're all together in a battle against the enchanted glass people. And look out for the arrival of the thirteenth - and first woman - Doctor, played by Broadchurch's Jodie Whittaker. It's an episode not to be missed.
