[edit]

Come closer my dear, enter TARDIS, the traveling time craft of Dr. Who, famous British Broadcasting Corporation science fiction character.

Dr. Who and several animated characters from the PBS television show can be seen in a mobile exhibit at the Rock Hill Mall on Tuesday and Wednesday. Through special lighting and sound effects, the road show recreates all the monsters and villians of the program that has thrilled British audiences for 23 years.

The theater on wheels, which is journeying coast-to-coast for two years, is the brainchild of Englishman Brian Sloman.

"The idea was to create a unique experience using all the original pieces that we could present to fans throughout America," says Sloman, who is traveling with the unit. Exhibits include the English police box, which is the time machine; a mock-up of the ship's control panel; and "Bessie," a bright, yellow vintage car built on a 1953 Ford Popular chassis.

Admission is $2 adults and $1 children.
