Jacqueline Hill, the actress who has died aged 63, was best known for her performance as the teacher Barbara Wright, one of the original characters in Dr Who on BBC Television in the 1960s.
Her other television credits included Three Empty Rooms, Requiem for a Heavyweight, Romeo and Juliet and Paradise Postponed. Among her films were The Blue Parrot and The Comedy Man. She was married to the film and television director Alvin Rakoff.
