TELLY-mad children are more likely to recognise a Dalek than an owl.
Nine out of 10 can name Doctor Who's enemies and Star Wars character Yoda.
But only 47% can identify a barn owl and just 53% can name an oak leaf.

And one in three failed to recognise a Red Admiral butterfly, according to the National Trust survey. Wildlife experts say children are missing out by spending too much time on computers and watching shows like Dr Who, which has starred Kylie Minogue, 40. Naturalist Nick Baker, 36, said: "The virtual world is winning. We think there is a paedophile or murderer in every woodland.
"We are scaring people out of the woods."
Mike Dilger, naturalist on BBC's The One Show, added: "The first thing I did when school finished was run about and climb trees."
The National Trust is campaigning for families to spend more time outdoors. Spokesman Matthew Oates said: "Wildlife is vital to us."
