OOH! Lalla Ward is furious. And who can blame her, as on the bookstalls next week will be a glossy magazine claiming to show sensational pictures of the former Dr. Who girl in the nude.
Lalla burst into tears when I broke the news to her and it was clearly due to a mixture of anger and distress.
Anger because she claims: "Some of the pictures are not of me." And distress because she's wondering how new husband Tom Baker—he was Dr. Who—will take it, not to mention parents, Viscount and Lady Bangor.
The pictures, in Paul Raymond's "Club International" magazine, are said to have been taken from a film called Sweet Virgin in which Lalla appeared in 1973.
Two years ago she complained that in some sexy scenes she had been impersonated by another actress.
Now she plans to sue the magazine for what they bill as "the Dalektable Lalla Ward nude." Get it?
Lalla says emphatically: "At no time was I totally naked. Two of the pictures seem to be me but I doubt the rest."
Meanwhile, Peter Plouviez, general secretary of actors' union Equity commented: "The digging up of old nude shots is utterly deplorable."
Especially, reckons Lalla, when a star's name is pinned to someone else's body.
