WHY JODIE WON'T ENTER CYBERSPACE

SHE may have pulled in more fans as the first female Doctor Who but Jodie Whittaker won't be watching the sci-fi show.

That's because the actress has time-travelled to an era of no social media or TV, so she is not affected by trolls or critics.

The 36-year-old is not lurking online 'in any form' - not even 'secretively'.

'It's been a benefit to me not to, because I would believe the hype and the hate. It just isn't for me; she said.

It meant she missed fans' praise after her debut stint in the Tardis, which saw the BBC1 show enjoy its biggest series launch audience in a decade.

Whittaker trumped male predecessors Peter Capaldi, Matt Smith and David Tennant, when a peak audience of 9million tuned in for her first outing on Sunday.

Capaldi's 2014 debut attracted 6.8million viewers. Smith got 7.7million in 2010, while Tennant was watched by 8million in 2006.

While Whittaker wasn't one of those tuning in, she vowed not to give away any spoilers.

'I am the first person to be annoyed if someone ruins a series for me. I hate it,' she said. 'So as a fan, I'm happy to keep it a secret:

The Yorkshire-born star

Pick-me-up: Jodie as The Doctor and singing with Walsh, Cole and Gill GETTY

also revealed hype over her appointment as the first female Doctor didn't have as big an impact on her daily Life as she had expected.

I was sat in my flat and had this weird moment where (I remembered) in Notting Hill, Rhys Ifans comes outside in his pants and there is a wall of photographers. I thought, "I am not going to be able to go anywhere", but I were fine: she said.

'I came out with a baseball cap on and I thought, "This is a bit too much, I will take it off':

At least she's having a giggle with her co-stars.

Bradley Walsh, 58, posted a Carpool Karaoke-style vid of himself, Whittaker, Tosin Cole, 26, and Mandip Gill, 30, singing Heart's '80s hit Alone to celebrate the first episode. But they will have to budge up in the back seat, as it was revealed Sex And The City's Chris Noth, aka Mr Big, is to join the series.
