Museum's £14,000 bill to restore phone box
STAFF at a Midland museum have been landed with a £14,000 bill to restore their latest exhibit — a Tardis.
The two-ton police phone box, similar to the one which trans. ported Dr Who in the BBC TV children's series, is believed to be one of only nine left In the country.
Public view
Now it is the latest exhibit to the National Telephone Kiosk Collection at Avoncroft Museum, Bromsgrove.
Museum curator Dr Simon Penn said: "We are faced with raising nearly £14,000 to restore the exhibit before it can go on public view." He said there were plans to have the entire 15-strong kiosk collection classed as historic listed buildings.
