"Masquerade"

This is a big exhibition on the rôle of masks in western societies with loaned masks from the theatre, industry and warfare, and masks specially commissioned from Welsh artists and craftsmen. There are some superb English folk masks used in traditional celebrations, and by contrast, masks to provide protection or anonymity in modern warfare and terrorist activities. Children will probably enjoy the theatrical and television masks most. In the Dr Who section is a Cybermen mask, a Sea Devil mask, and the Dr Who theatre, whose construction was demonstrated on the Blue Peter programme. (If you post a sae to the Blue Peter people, they will send you a leaflet on how the theatre is made.)
