Sunny Boat Show opens today

AS an army of workmen put the final flourish to the International Boat Show yesterday, the first visitors had a privileged preview.
The show—eleventh of its kind—will be opened officially at 11 a.m. today by Princess Alexandra at Earls Court.
But yesterday, Press day, celebrities mingled with the doyens of reporter, photographers, and TV crews thronging the "sunshine-in-January" exhibition.
There was Patrick Allen (ITV's "Crane"); Carol Anne Ford of "Dr. Who" fame: David Jacobs with his sons: and Richard Dimbleby.
Comedian Jon Pertwee, a veteran underwater swimmer and explorer, had the most action time. He squeezed into a borrowed diving suit and vanished into the harbour in a cloud of bubbles to inspect the underwater house.

In a snow-white yachting cap and red sailing smock he looked as smart as any of the models.
The show, which will be open till January 16 from l0 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily except Sunday, is presented by the Daily Express in association with the Ship and Boat Builders' National Federation.
