THERE are now two good reasons for keeping track of what's going on in the Tardis. If you switch on Dr Who and The Daleks (BBC 1, Friday, 7.30pm) you will see Jo attacked by a deadly fungal disease, although since she is crucial to the series she obviously (technical television term, "she unexpectedly") finds help.

The Doctor (Jon Pertwee vintage) and the Thals search for her, but get ambushed by the Daleks. The tension of waiting for the Daleks to come up against a real enemy — like a giant sinkhole too big to be unblocked by their plunger arm — is reason enough to watch. But now add the excitement of working out what Steven Spielberg might do
