A 13-YEAR-OLD actress is to appear in the new series of Doctor Who.

Lakechia Jeanne, from Furzton, will be featured alongside the new Doctor, Matt Smith, and Oscar winning actress Sophie Okonedo in the second episode of the new series showing on BBC One on Saturday.

The prime time show attracts over six million viewers each week.

Lakechia, who stayed in Cardiff with her mum during the filming of the episode, said: "When I found out I had the part I was so excited.

"The whole experience was hugely enjoyable and overwhelming and I would love to do it all again."

She said the show's star Matt, who lives in Northampton, was 'down to earth and welcoming'. Lakechia has attended Stagecoach theatre school in Stony Stratford for the last seven years and has previously appeared in The Bill and alongside Dame Helen Mirren in Prime Suspect.

In addition to her screen roles, Lakechia has trodden the boards at Milton Keynes Theatre with fellow Stagecoach pupils in Jesus Christ Superstar, Whistle Down The Wind and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
