He's a blast from past

IT looks like the new Doctor Who has already done some time travelling — and pinched his predecessors' clothes.

Matt Smith, 26, who is taking over as the 11th Time Lord, unveiled his image on set yesterday... and a few things looked rather familiar (except the geography teacher's tweed jacket, of course). And his sidekick Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan, looked like she'd travelled back to 80s with her bright red bat-wing jumper.

But just one thing, Matt, where's the stripy scarf and jellybabies?

3rd Doctor's flashy bowtie

Just like Jon Pertwee back in the early 70s. Matt will wear a natty bow tie as he saves the universe.

9th Doctor's black trousers

His black trousers and leather boots take their dark inspiration from Christopher Eccleston.

10th Doctor's floppy hair

Matt's hairstyle bears a striking similarity to outgoing Doctor David Tennant's do.

7th Doctor's cream shirt

The stylish shirt is remarkably like the one favoured by Sylvester McCoy in the 80s

2nd Doctor's red braces

Matt wears a pair of braces just like the ones Patrick Troughton used to keep his trousers up.
